I'm a might sore after completing the underground duathlon today. The brazen side of me felt there would be no problem entering into an event with two parts running, even though I don't run. The intellectual side soon figured out that I was setting myself up for a big hurt by doing no run training ahead of time.

But soon into the bike the legs started shaking out a bit and I was able to put it into overdrive. Despite giving everyone a HUGE head start I managed to reel in all but the first two out on the course. Entering the run third, I crumbled down one spot (just didn't get a big enough lead on Danny-boy, who quickly and easily dispatched me early in the final leg) for a final position of fourth--just off the podium.
Lesson: if I did even a little bit of running each week I prolly wouldn't collapse during those two parts of the event. Duh.
We may do this all over again next month....
